[Interview] One small and medium company, Mamirobot which competes with big Goliaths, LG and Samsung.

Here we have a new interview of Mamirobot from Korea Online newspaper Moneytoday.

The story is as follows.
If you look at the inside of electronic business conglomerates in Korea, there is a one small and medium company which competes with big Goliaths, LG and Samsung.
The robot vacuum cleaner company Mamirobot Co, Ltd. is the one. In Korea, as you know if one segment market is filled with conglomerates like LG and Samsung which have huge money power to seize their market, the small and medium business like Mamirobot Co, Ltd. would hard to survive in the market.
But the situation was always different for the Mamirobot Co, Ltd. In robot vacuum cleaner market in Korea, Mamirobot won the total sales of robot vacuum cleaners against LG and Samsung for 5years since 2007. Robot vacuum cleaner from the Mamirobot Co, Ltd has been sold steadily in Korea market for 5 years and now in 2012, the sales records still uprising just like Samsung and LG.
The CEO of Mamirobot Co, Ltd Seong-lak Jang who made a success story from the early beginning of Mamirobot Co, Ltd. mentioned the Samsung and LG in the interview with Moneytoday; “It’s great to be the one of competitors with the conglomerates like Samsung and LG in the robot vacuum industry in Korea. It helps a lot to us by their TV commercials of robot vacuum cleaner which make people to recognize what the robot vacuum cleaner is and make the market grow big. And for the TV commercials from LG and Samsung, they help Mamirobot employees always not to lose their tension to struggle with those big companies.”
In 2012, the robot vacuum cleaner industry in Korea would be estimated about over $72,000,000. The top sales leader in this market in offline market now is the LG and Samsung and Mamriobot is chasing after the big conglomerates right after.
The situation is totally different in online market. Mamirobot primarily gets profit from online market and the sales records in online market have been outnumbered than any other robot vacuum cleaner in Korea. For example, market share of Mamirobot robot vacuum cleaner products in the Auction shopping site is over 50% than any other robot vacuum cleaner company and the total number of sold products from Mamriobot stands the 1th in Auction.
The secret of the success is in the reasonable price which is about $270 of robot vacuum cleaners from Mamirobot against the Samsung and LG robot vacuum cleaners of about $540 which is high price to buy for regular customer.
Mamirobot CEO Seong-lak Jang says that Mamirobot got rid of marginal cost from middle merchant to make the product price reasonable and also Mamirobot didn’t spent any money on public advertisement like high price TV, newspaper commercials.
Mamirobot mostly uses the internet to promote their products and make public relationships. It cheap and almost free using Internet and also spread fast when it comes to the great products. Mamirobot estimates to make $15,000,000 of sales account in 2012 which is the double amount than 2011 with its royal customers’ viral marketing in the online internet market and offline market.




Mamirobot started the robot vacuum cleaner business in 2005 starting with 4 employees and now in 2012, there are 130 employees and nobody is the Temporary Employed.
The CEO of Mamirobot Co, Ltd. Seong-lak Jang started his work-life from one of employees in Hyundai Corporation for 8years which is leading general trading company that has taken the lead in promoting export of Korea and Hyundai Group on the basis of solid global networks. After stepping out of Hyundai Corporation, he had been grown his own business of cloth trading until 2002 in the name of Moojin Co, Ltd.
While in 2002, he shocked when he found the business item which called robot vacuum cleaner. He thought that he could win the industry with this new ideal product named robot vacuum cleaner and started to establish new corporation which produce the robot vacuum cleaner. He went here and there to get information about robot vacuum cleaner for about 2 years to release his first new Korea adaptable robot vacuum cleaner Mamirobot. As a result, his efforts of 2 years have been rewarded as No.1 robot vacuum cleaner with wet mopping system in robot vacuum cleaner market in Korea after 2007.
The sales of Mamirobot had been radically outstanded of previous existing robot vacuum cleaner companies at the release time of 2007. There was no wet mopping system added in robot vacuum cleaners in the existing market before. Mamirobot took the great chance by adding the wet mopping system in the robot vacuum cleaner and hit the market with new designed robot vacuum cleaner. It was hit in the eye of Korean robot vacuum cleaner market. 2012, the new robot vacuum cleaner product Mamirobot Pporo K7 was also the eye-catching idea product. Regular robot vacuum cleaners in the market have only two kinds of main components as robot vacuum cleaner and auto charging station. But CEO of Mamirobot thought different and added the handy vacuum cleaner named Zaaloo which is just like the broom with brush attached on the top side of vacuum cleaner and it hales the dirts at the same time, when brushing the dirts.
Now, Seong-lak Jang, the CEO of Mamrobot Co, Ltd. aims ambitious objectives.
He aims for the initial public offering(IPO : stock market launching) until 2014 and aims for the total sales account for $90,000,000.
Also Mamirobot is researching and developing the waterbike, robot cleaner for ships, robot which could manage the farming and etc.
He finished the interview with the last phrase. “I’m very happy creating things with my employees which were not existed before in the world. There was my deep hope that I wanted to give works and life for the needy and hungry people and that’s why I established the company.”
